Where do I get "Official" Grad photos?

May 11, 2017

If you're here, you probably have one question: "Is this the right place to get my grad photos?" The short answer to that question is most likely: "Yes!"

SUB Photo is the official photographer for most campus classes and groups at the University of Alberta, and a growing number of other post-secondary institutions in Alberta. There's been some confusion about this lately because one of our competitors claims that they are the only "official" photographer for the U of A. A little bit of investigation will tell you that the University actually doesn't sponsor them at all.

Official Grad Photos So the next obvious question is, "Why should I trust you?" Obviously there's a slight conflict of interest here. We suggest if you have doubts, check with your student or grad council as they are the ones who book grad photos for your class.

The final and perhaps biggest question is probably, "Should I care?" Most of the time the best place to get your grad photos is the one that's either most convenient or the cheapest - and that's us! We're available year-round, conveniently located, and our session fees are lower than our competitors (in fact, for Science students your session fees are provided free as part of your ISSS membership).

One more factor that might be important to you is to be included in the wall composite frame that hangs in your department. Again, your student group is the official source of information - but in 2018 we are creating composites for Education, Phys. Ed & Rec, Medicine, Human Ecology, Computing Science, and a number of other departments.  (We're officially the photographer for all Arts and Science students by our agreements with OASIS and ISSS, but those classes don't make composites.) We also can capture your photos and send them on to your student council for inclusion in the composite if it's being made by another company.

We hope to see you soon! Book your own session by clicking here: http://www.subphoto.net/calendars/
