Where do I get "Official" Grad photos?

December 11, 2018

If you're here, you probably have one question: "Is this the right place to get my grad photos?" The short answer to that question is most likely "Yes!"

SUB Photo is the official photographer for most campus classes and groups at the University of Alberta, and a growing number of other post-secondary institutions in Alberta. We have official agreements with almost every major U of A program including Education, Medicine, KSR, Arts, Science, many ALES programs, CSJ and more.  If you have any doubts you can ask your student or grad council to be sure.

Does it matter to you?  In some cases it should - especially if your class is creating a wall composite, then you should visit us to be included.  We also financially support the graduating classes we work with, so there's a benefit to choosing SUB Photo for you and your class.

In other cases it may not matter as much, and yet SUB Photo is still quite possibly the best choice.  We are usually less expensive than other companies, we are open all year so you can choose the time that suits you best, and of course we are the only studio on campus so it's certainly convenient!

What's up with this guy?
One of our competitors put this up on his site a few years back.  We believe he lost some business to us once we opened; sadly his site still appears in Google searches but the information is mostly incorrect and out-of-date.  Even a little investigation will show that they have no "official" connection to the U of A at all.

Obviously taking our word on it would involve a slight conflict of interest. We'll suggest again that if you have doubts you can check with your student or grad council.  They are the ones who book grad photos for your class and can give you the most accurate answer.  We're also happy to answer your questions - just send us a quick note and we'll get back to you.
