University of Alberta Graduation Ceremonies
This year's #ualberta convocation ceremonies will take place at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta. Ceremony dates and times are posted on the U of A website; if you plan on attending here's a few tips!
- Arrive early! The grad ceremonies are quite busy as many hundreds of people will be there to celebrate, so leave lots of time to find your way around.
- Park a block away. The lot connected to the Jubilee Auditorium is often very full and the entrance is sometimes inefficient; if you see a line of cars waiting to get in, consider turning in early to park at the Education car park, just a block north of the auditorium, or at the Stadium car park connected to S.U.B. (where you'll pick up your gown).
- Bring safety pins! Your grad hood (the colourful sash that designates your degree program) will likely fall off your shoulders throughout the day. A small safety pin on each shoulder will keep the hood in place for the day - you'll have less bother and the hood will be on straighter in any candid photos you take!
- Stop in to see us! Family photos and studio grad portraits are available on a walk-in basis during convocation. If you still need your own grad photos, or want some more taken with your friends and family, we're here for you!
Still Need Grad Photos?
University of Alberta students who need grad photos, you've found the right place! SUB Photo is open all year for your convenience, including some evenings and weekends. If you'd like to have a more relaxed photo session, consider booking with us in the weeks before or after convocation - we have gowns you can use, and the photo sessions will be more relaxed since the day won't be so busy!
Our studio in the Students' Union Building provides official grad photos to graduates from the U of A, and we offer portraits for graduates from other schools too (but talk to us first about the grad apparel). Remember to visit us if your class has a photo composite - you don't want to miss out!
